Or, how I nearly offed myself because of a model.
Okay, he’s not as bad to paint as the Black 13th or, I suspect, Kara Sloan, but wow did he take some patience. 4 layers of detail and the usual Cygnaran love of packs, buckles and rivets.

It’s but a dalliance, I assure you. A little sumptin’ sumptin’ on the side to whet the appetite. A sorbet as it were. My heart will always belong to the Cygnus and her sexy technology, but sometimes a man needs something a little more… rough.
Ashlynn, you move me so!
And you tend to move other [...]

So, how did my ambitious plans turn out? See for yourself:
Have a delightful dinner at the Keg mansion with the wife Saturday night. (Great success!)
Get Kara and the last Stormlance assembled (Success!)
Spray the above, the cyclone, Harlan Versh, Ashlynn, the vanguard and the Dude (although, I fear it may be too cold this weekend). (Failure: [...]

I say ‘free” because even though the children are off to a rare weekend at the farm chores don’t go with them. It’ll be a busy couple of days, but filled with enough nerd stuff to do that it’ll keep me from missing them too much before Sunday night.
Last night was Malifaux / Warmahordes at [...]

What a punishing experience. I had fun, but it didn’t mean that I wasn’t feeling the burn of the losses in the Resurgence Tournament this past weekend. I had cool opponents, the dude who got the Cygnar coin well deserved it and I won at least one game. Oh, and I got a best painted [...]

Hands have been wrung to bloody tatters. Brow-sweat has dripped into the eyes, causing blindness due to excess salinity. Anxiety has led to psychosis. But finally, finally, I have finished my Resurgence tournament list. The time for doubt and second-guessing is over. In a mere 5 days, these lists will stand or fall on their [...]

My losing streak continues in the Warmahordes league, but I refuse to feel down about it. First, because last night’s opponents (Chris and Charles) were not all “serious-business” at the table; second, I was in a good mood; third, I learned a couple of things; and finally, I was just glad to get out.
Oh, and [...]

On January 23rd I plan on attending the Warmachine MkII Prime: Resurgence release tournament at the Dueling Grounds. I won’t go into breathless detail about the format, but it certainly presents some interesting list formation challenges:
It’s an escalation format: lists progress from 25 points the first match, 35 the 2nd and 50 all subsequent matches. [...]

Don’t panic! Dread Cthulhu is not about to breach the surface of the sea, stalk the world of man and consume the faithful and the ignorant alike. No, the stars have simply aligned and fortune has smiled upon this humble nerd. Yes, there are some fiscal expenditures involved, but overall it’s nothing but good news:
Mini [...]

Not only am I entering my 40th year, I’m also entering my third year as a miniatures gamer. And boy, does 2010 look promising (and expensive) in that regard.
The year begins with a new Warmahordes league at my beloved Dueling Grounds on January 7. Sadly, I’ll be a little late to the party due to [...]
