Reasons for “Living”: It’s Been a While
February 6, 2009
Wow, was it really August since I did one of these? Time flies.
- Finished Fallout 3 this week. Damn I want more of it. Luckily, the 2nd DLC pack will allow me to move past the ending and level to 30. So many places yet to visit; so many slaver scum to murder…
- To absolutely no one’s surprise, Infinity Ward has let it slip (via the accursed Twitter) that CoD: Modern Warfare 2 is in development. I spent a lot of time with CoD4 and can see the same thing happening later this year.
- What has surprised everyone is that Battlefield will be returning to it’s WWII roots with Battlefield: 1943: a visual upgrade at a cheap price point featuring the most beloved of maps, Wake Island. Kotaku says it’ll be for the PC as well as the consoles. My new system likes this idea…
- Oh, yeah! The new system! Put it together last night and got Vista up and running. Things I’ve learned since the last build I did was 3 years ago:
- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L Motherboard: Smaller than I expected. What, no bus fan!?
- Sapphire Radeon HD 4870: Big! It has heat exchange pipes on it! Makes cable management a bit tough, though…
- Corsair 450W PSU: Um, well ventilated. Good quality sheathed cables. 6 SATA power connectors!? Seriously?
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz CPU: CPUs don’t have pins anymore!? They just, like, nestle in there!? Wow.
- 4GB Kingston RAM: So thin yet so long.
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500 GB HD: Half the size of my existing drives which themselves had half the capacity. Well, I’ll be…
- Vista Home Premium (64-bit) OEM: Sure is, um, OSy, I guess. Installed with no issues.
- Dealing with Newegg.ca was a painless experience. Order to delivery took 3 days. Highly recommended an their prices beat anyone local.
- A new Cygnar compatible mercenary solo in May? Yes, please! I wonder what fantastic anti-Hordes abilities Lanyssa Ryssyll will bring to the blue and gold?
Well, I have long evening of configuring, tweaking and installing ahead of me tonight. Feels damn good!
