Reasons for “Living”: Imma EAT you!
June 3, 2008
Today’s post title comes from the mouth of my darling daughter, Abigail. Over the weekend, she got to watch Ghostbusters for the first time, and for hours afterwards was saying the following:
And then the doggy came out of the door *SMASH* and looked at you like you was food; imma EAT you!
Truly a proud moment and an honest-to-goodness RL reason for living. Anyway, onto the nerd crap:
- Collector’s Editions of video games are odd things. Some really hit the mark and others just kind of fizzle out or don’t live up to expectations. I can, however, say without a shadow of a doubt, that this little bundle of joy has set my mouth all a-drool. Odd, considering I haven’t actually finished Fallouts 1 or 2.
- I sincerely hope that Wizards’ attempt at a virtualized D&D experience is a success. Sadly, the service is not yet up and running (rumours say Friday, June 6th) so I can’t take it for a spin. If, and that’s one hell of a big if, the D&D Insider actually works as advertised, my PnP gaming drought may be at an end. It may also be worth my 10 bux a month. My books should be in by early next week, but from what I’ve *cough cough* seen of 4E so far I like. I sense the coming of a major review…
- In related news, I discovered that much had changed on Gleemax while I wasn’t looking. For a limited time, you can play board game classics like Robo Rally and Axis and Allies via a Java applet on the site. I imagine that these games will continue to be free for those with Insider memberships.
- If Insider turns out to be crap, I can always turn to the play by post Traditional Games SA subforum to get my gaming fix. I have yet to participate in a lasting game (hell, one game lasted exactly one ROUND before it folded), but it looks like I’m up for a Serenity and 4E game, both with heavy criminal overtones. Gotta go and prep those characters.
